The Ellen DeGeneres Show - Submission
I am from Southeastern and Northeastern Florida, originally. I moved to Slidell, Louisiana, by New Orleans, when I was 12 and lived there until I was 20 in college. I had just went big on music and had loved classical music. I had an interesting early connection with this teacher when my mom called to ask about me having organ lessons, but she was too busy. I finally found I was allowed to join the adult choir at a Catholic parish I went to school at in junior high. I was 14. It was very different from what I was used to before moving. It was pretty much very laid back and not funded much. They were all sad when an old priest left. We got a new priest with 2 music people, a couple, and the husband directed and played. The priest even let me play for mass from chord symbols I read on the spot, tho I didn't always have time to notate the chords and he didn't give me advance work. They went against the priest and music people who also worked the office. It was on TV and I was pretty sad. We got a new, upbeat priest and a sexy woman to direct and play. Everything was even more transformed in life. She got us together and put up with us all. She was from New Orleans originally. She made us comfortable with who we were, a casual group performing in public. She was one of those people who were real astute and "knew" how to get things done. She taught me organ, let me play keyboard for the youth mass, and sometimes organ at mass. This was 2002. I left 2005.
