You're right. The 1st Veruca seems to come out of nowhere and her personality is not very developed. The 2nd 1 seems to hit you more, for real. You don't even see much of Johnny Depp yet when you can tell this.
Johnny Depp made this seem more to the point, as he is like a little boy when the 1st one comes out, like a reunion for his generation, like things are happening at their pace, but people were very caring, adults and all, and I think most normal people recall this as they recall well hurricanes and such 30 years in the past.
I can only hope they make another one. It's now been 10 years. It's like waiting for another Pirates of the Caribbean. I don't know what Depp would do dressed up as Wonka again. I wonder what kinds of kids would be cast and how old they are. Things like this change the whole world! I would like the Oompa Loompas to be child dancers, tho it would take attention from the naughty kids visiting the factory. They could name it Chelsey and the Chocolate Factory. They'll always display a variety of stereotypes prematurely in Hollywood hits, which are not all on topic. The 1st one may be good, but it's nice to see it tweaked and modernized. I do wish or wished there'd be one like the original, but with kids today I don't see that happening.
